Case Overview

The Midnight Burglary

The Midnight Burglary is a secondary-level case set in the fictional coastal town of Anchors Bay. A late-night break-in triggers a staged investigation where students build a timeline, identify inconsistencies, and test competing explanations against the evidence.

The case supports middle and high school literacy (grades 7-11) by strengthening inference, sequencing, source evaluation, and evidence-based writing. Reading becomes purposeful because every statement, log, and report helps students move from suspicion to proof.

It made me pay attention to the details because you could not just guess.

We had to prove it. That is what made it fun.

It was easier to write because the evidence gave you the argument.

It felt like a real investigation. You had to back everything up.
